Alex McCarthy wasn't always plagued with nightmares, as he always had his best friend by his side as they played together.

All grown up, his friends and family have long expected he'd move on from his infatuation, as did his siblings, but he'd soon regret cauterizing the wound of forgetting Captain Dragon, his childhood imaginary friend.

Strange things have been happening in the forestial and rainy town of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Mysterious figures have been spotted by a network of townsfolk.

After various encounters, he and his friends will have to maneuver through trial and error in figuring out the nature of these foreign visitors. In doing so, they unfortunately wouldn't take into account, the swords, magic, fur, paws, and claws that would ensue.

Beasts of War, the book was called. A detailed magical book of the talking beastfolk of Old World. As a child, he played with them and since his youth, Alex has only ever had dreams of them. In this modern day and age, he'll learn that dreams do come true.
